INVITATION
The organizing committee is pleased to inform that an International Workshop on Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (IWABE) will be held in Hanoi, Vietnam from December 8-9, 2009. This workshop is co-organized by Vietnam Institute of Agricultural Engineering & Post Harvest Technology, Nong Lam University, Vietnam Society of Agricultural Engineering, and National Program on Science & Technology for Industrialization and Modernization in Agriculture and Rural Areas (KC.07).
 
It is our great pleasure to invite participantsto attend the IWABEand present papers of your most recent works. The IWABE will provide you a place where you can exchange ideas and information on the current research and technology developments in the field of agricultural and biosystems engineering. All participants will have an enjoyable time meeting with many friends and outstanding scholars and also have an enjoyable time visiting in Hanoi and some nearby areas.
 
We are looking forward to meeting you in Hanoi, Vietnam.

CALL FOR PAPERS
All participants who wish to present papers are requested to submit abstracts to the organizing committee by June 30, 2009. Each abstract should be less than 500 words including title of the paper, authors, objectives and results. The papers accepted for presentation at the IWABE will be notified to their authors by July 15th, 2009. The authors of the accepted papers should submit their manuscripts by October 31, 2009. The manuscript format will be sent to the authors of the accepted papers.
Papers for either oral or poster presentations are called for the following subjects:
1. Farm power and machinery
2. Post harvest technology
3. Bioenergy and alternative energy
4. Agricultural informatics and Precision Agriculture
5. Biomechatronics and Robotics in Agriculture
6. Related issues (Policy, Management…..)
 
LANGUAGE
The official language of the IWABE is English.

REGISTRATION
All participants and accompanying persons should register for the IWABE. Advance registration is recommended and must be accepted by e-mail or fax on or before November 10, 2009. After that, you are requested to register on-site with the on-site registration fee. Registration fee includes proceedings, parties, and coffee breaks during the workshop and field trip.
When you are registered with your payment, General Secretary will send a confirmation notice via e-mail. If no confirmation is made in two weeks after you have registered, please contact General Secretary.

CANCELLATION
Cancellation must be made by a written letter to General Secretary. Registration fee will be fully refunded if the cancellation is made before November 15, 2009. 50% will be refunded until November30, 2009 and no refund will be made after November 30, 2009.
 
HOTEL & ACCOMMODATION
There are many hotels ranging from the first class to less expensive in Hanoi city. Participants need to reserve rooms ahead of the workshop. Please contact the preferred hotels for a reservation using the following website addresses. Hotel rate may change depending on the seasons and the tax and service charges will be added. Detailed information about the hotel reservation will be posted in the second announcement at the website http://www.viaep.org.vnon September, 2009.
 
 
TRANSPORTATION
All participants registered can be arranged transportations from and to Hanoi Airport, during the workshop, and field trip.

VISA
Foreign visitors enter Vietnam may also contact travel agencies or the Vietnam Consulate nearby their area. If an official invitation letter is required to get a visa, please contact IWABE’s Secretary at the email address: dinhtamvn2002@yahoo.com.
 
CURRENCY
The Vietnam currency is “đồng” (VND). One US dollar is approximately equal to 17 800 VND in April, 2009. You may visit the homepage of the Vietnam Exchange Bank to check the current exchange rate. Foreign currency and traveler’s check can be exchanged at most of banks and hotels. Major credit cards such as Visa, Master and American Express are acceptable at many stores and most of hotels.
 
BUSINESS HOURS
Offices are usually open from 07:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
ELECTRICITY
Household service power is 220 V, 50 Hz in Vietnam. Some hotels may provide a converter if requested.
 
EMERGENCY
Participants are strongly advised to arrange their own travel insurance cover.
Emergency call numbers in Vietnam are 113 for the police and 115 for fire/rescue and hospital services.
